All you've got to do is line up the tail with the egg and walk down it's back to grab it. You can breed magmasaurs on ragnarok at the top of the volcano. You just basically get them on shore and slowly dip their feet in until it no longer says they need lava. I've tested it in singleplayer, and unofficial xbox/win10 with no problems.
